At Gandhi Nidhi Chhatarpur, we empower young adults to express themselves and discover their inner voice through an immersive five-day Theatre Workshop. This program focuses on the rich tradition of Indian classical theatre, particularly the Nava-Rasa (nine emotions), helping participants differentiate between acting and reacting.

Exploring the Art of Theatre

Our Theatre Workshop is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of theatrical expression, emphasizing:

Nava-Rasa: Participants learn about the nine fundamental emotions—Shringara (love), Hasya (laughter), Karuna (compassion), Roudra (anger), Vira (courage), Bhayanaka (fear), Bibhatsa (disgust), Adbhuta (wonder), and Shanta (peace). These emotions are integral to Indian performing arts and serve as a foundation for effective storytelling.
Acting vs. Reacting: The workshop encourages participants to explore the nuances of performance, focusing on intentional expression rather than mere reaction, fostering deeper emotional connections with their audience.

Hands-On Experience

The workshop culminates in a live performance where participants showcase a script written by alumni from previous years. This not only provides practical experience in acting but also builds confidence and teamwork among participants.
